Twitter and the @replies “problem”

Even though some people are arrogant enough to say that no one should worry about the recent @replies issue Twitter had and still has (because they don’t see/understand the problem), I think this actually IS a problem. But honestly I come from the completely opposite way than everyone else…

To be honest: I just don’t care what you (If I follow you) tell someone else. I really don’t. So far I set up Twitter so I only see @replies that are directed to me. Like this I got only the information that is supposed to reach me. I don’t read my neighbours post card either, even though I could. Why? Because I don’t care.

Following ~150 people is “stressfull” (in a good way :D) enough, and so far I was really happy with the solution provided. I just can’t see what problem Twitter tried to solve with that step. What is the consequence? I actually have to unfollow people that @reply rather often because I really want to follow what people I care about have to say.

Is there anyone else who sees this twitter “issue” this way around?

Tweetblast = Spam?

After Macheist started to use Twitter as a marketing tool, many people start to complain that they get tons of “Spam” over Twitter. This is because people are retweeting Messages in order to get stuff for free.
Even if it might be slightly annoying, this is not Spam!
So let’s get things clear: Spam messages are messages you get from someone and you never asked to get them, right?
But this is different here: You OPTED IN! You actively clicked the “FOLLOW” button on someones site to get EACH AND EVERY MESSAGE this person will EVER write until you un-follow this person (sorry for the “broken” caps lock, just had to point out something).
What does this mean? Clearly, that it is not spam. Especially not from Macheist. So if you think someone should not have tweeted that just tell that person (and tell her/him that he should not get stuff for free then).
Now let’s turn this into “real-life” (I know that Twitter became much more real than actual life for some persons): Your favorite clothing store tells you, that you get that shiny suit for free if you tell your friends that they can get a free suit at this store. Wouldn’t you do it? You would! This of course means other friends may come to you too and tell you the same story. Now as you have your shiny suit already this information may be worthless to you but they did it for 2 reasons: a) To get a free suit b) to let you know that you can get a free suit (just in case you didn’t know already). So is the fact that you either are not interested in this suit (for what reason ever) or already have one reason enough to start yelling at your friends because you want to be left alone, or already heard the story?

I would say no, so please stop being grumpy due to some happy people that share in some way. And remember, you opted in to get EVERY message, you can still opt out anytime just by clicking “UNFOLLOW”.

Thank you!

Blackforest Still

Telewebber = Totgeburt
